Language Provision

Language learning opportunities and multilingual education

Language Provision

English and Bahasa Indonesia are the languages taught at Dyatmika. In Early Years and Primary, instruction uses bilingual immersion in English and Indonesian. Primary School provides language support in English (EAL) and Bahasa Indonesia (BIPA) with small-group placement. In High School, all students are taught English as a First Language, Bahasa Indonesia as a First Language where possible, and Indonesian as a Second Language is supported.

Bilingual Teaching

In the Early Years and Primary classrooms, students are immersed in both Bahasa Indonesia and English. Early Years classes are supported by bilingual teachers and teaching assistants who develop language for young learners in both Bahasa Indonesia and English. In Primary, each class is led by two teachers—one English-speaking international teacher and one bilingual Indonesian teacher—with a bilingual teaching assistant supporting language development in both languages. By the time they reach High School, students master both English and Bahasa.

Immersion Programs

The Early Years and Primary classrooms immerse students in both Bahasa Indonesia and English. As students move to High School, Bahasa Indonesia continues to be taught while most subjects are taught in English. Primary School provides language support in English (EAL) and Bahasa Indonesia (BIPA) with small-group placement. All High School students are taught English as a First Language, and as many as possible Bahasa Indonesia as a First Language, with Indonesian as a Second Language support.
