Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Personal development and character-building are central to GMIS Semarang. From Nursery onward, students are nurtured to develop resilience, ambition, empathy, and social responsibility. The school emphasises collaboration, sharing resources, and fairness and honesty as core values. Teachers know each child deeply and provide timely, compassionate support when something feels off, working in close partnership with families. Students become lifelong learners, team players, leaders, and innovators, learning how to think, not what to think.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

English is the main medium of instruction across the school, supporting pupils' academic fluency and global readiness. Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin, Hindi, Korean, and French studies are essential elements within the curriculum and the social context of the school. The school encourages students to learn their mother tongue alongside English.

Mental Wellbeing

Pastoral care and personal development support mental wellbeing. The school emphasizes nurturing wellbeing alongside academics, with staff attentive to students' emotional needs and ready to provide support. Partnerships with families help students regain confidence quickly and continue to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The focus is on developing empathy, compassion, and social responsibility that contribute to wellbeing.
