On-campus housing is available for rent by Hillcrest staff. Units are one to three bedrooms with basic furnishings, appliances, kitchen equipment, and linens. All apartments have internet access. School maintenance personnel keep the apartments in working order. There are security personnel on duty around the entire campus 24 hours a day. When necessary, single teachers may be asked to share an apartment with another single of the same sex. Some staff opt to find their own housing in the community. The campus includes a dormitory.
Hillcrest School is a private Christian school sponsored by the various Christian organizations working in Papua, Indonesia. Faculty members are recruited and remunerated by the school's sponsoring Christian organizations.
Hillcrest School is a Christian day school in Sentani, Papua, offering an American-based curriculum. The program follows U.S. standards and uses AERO for core subjects, integrating a Christian worldview. Bible is used in social studies and science; every student takes a Bible course each semester with weekly chapels. Instruction is in English, with Indonesian language included; ELL support and mother-tongue instruction offered when staff allow. Pre-1 to 5 are classroom-based; grades 6–12 are departmentalized, with offerings in English, math, science, social studies, and languages; French, Korean and Spanish offered when staffing permits. AP courses include AP English Language and Composition, AP European History, AP Calculus, AP Psychology, AP Statistics, and AP Precalculus. The campus has elementary and secondary facilities, a 29,000-item library, science and music labs, two computer labs, an art room, and athletic facilities. Outdoor Education provides two-week service trips; NHS, SLIC and Student Council offer leadership opportunities globally.
