Let the school know you're thinking of applying — they can share their prerequisites and help you through the process.
It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
The uniform colours are dark blue, yellow and white. The fabric is sold in pre-cut lengths from the school office, and a yellow and white cotton batik fabric is available for shirts, dresses and pinafores; the style is not prescribed and should be simple, functional and appropriate. Footwear should be safe and comfortable; sandals must have a back strap and flip-flops are not allowed. For PE, students wear navy leggings or shorts, their house T‑shirt and appropriate sports shoes.
JCS does not have an onsite canteen; parents provide their child's lunch and healthy snacks. External catering services for student lunches are available to families. The school promotes healthy eating with 'Fruity Fridays' and prohibits candy, chewing gum and fizzy drinks; reusable drink bottles are encouraged.
JCS has a House system with three houses named after Mahabharata characters: Nakula (Red), Sadewa (Blue) and Srikandi (Green). Students and staff are placed in a house for the duration of their time at JCS, and house points are earned for contributions; inter-house events include swimming and athletic carnivals; House Captains and Vice Captains are elected.
JCS was established in 2012 by Yayasan Suluh Semesta (YSS). It uses the UK Pearson Edexcel curriculum and is an approved Pearson Edexcel Examination Centre offering IGCSE and A Level examinations. It is not-for-profit and governed by a parent and community-elected Board of Governors, supported by YSS Trustees.
Jogjakarta Community School (JCS) is a British independent school in Jogjakarta offering the UK Pearson Edexcel curriculum for ages 2 to 18. It operates as an English-medium school with official Pearson Edexcel Examination Centre status (Centre ID 97194), enabling learners to sit official assessments on campus. Founded in 2012 by Yayasan Suluh Semesta to serve Indonesian and expatriate families, JCS is governed by a parent and community-elected Board of Governors and supported by the YSS Trustees. In 2017 the school relocated to a purpose-built campus in northern Jogjakarta; in October 2024 the Multi-Purpose Space opened, and in January 2026 a new Learning Block will open alongside the original Learning Block. The Edexcel curriculum guides Early Years Foundation Stage through Key Stages 1–5, with a UK-style progression and Year Groups. Six Learner Traits—Independent, Resilient, Collaborative, Engaged, Reflective and Creative—shape teaching and learning, alongside a strong emphasis on pastoral care and personal development.
