Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

The school uses the UK Pearson Edexcel curriculum for Early Years through to Year 13. It is an approved Pearson Edexcel Examination Centre (ID 97194), enabling learners to sit official assessments on campus. The education path mirrors the UK system with Key Stages, including Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1–5, with progression through stages aligned to students' development. The Edexcel curriculum is delivered in a caring, supportive environment with a balance between academic learning and personal growth.

Arts and Creative

After School Activities cover sports, arts, culture and other creative pursuits; participation is optional. ASAs run Tuesday to Friday, 2:30 pm–3:30 pm, with some extended sessions until 4:00 pm. The EYFS framework includes Expressive Arts and Design as a core learning area, supporting creative development. Specialist subjects are taught by highly qualified teachers, and curricular and extracurricular activities complement classroom learning.

Cultural and Language

Indonesian Language Programme provides sessions for all learners from Reception to Year 11. Indonesian is introduced in Primary and continues through Secondary, with groups organized by proficiency in Primary. Beyond language study, learners explore Indonesian culture, traditions and local heritage; Indonesia Week highlights traditional arts, storytelling and cultural activities. Developing Indonesian language skills alongside intercultural understanding prepares learners to thrive in a multicultural world.

Social and Hobbies

After School Activities provide clubs and activities in sports, arts, culture and other interests beyond classroom time. Participation is optional, and ASA sessions run Tuesday to Friday from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm, with some extended to 4:00 pm. The House System promotes social engagement, with house captains and vice-captains elected by peers and opportunities for inter-house competitions. The Parents and Friends Association (PFA) strengthens community links by coordinating events, fundraising and volunteer activities.

Community and Service

Change Makers is a teacher-led group of learners from Reception through to Secondary who champion sustainability and community projects. They design projects, raise awareness and inspire the JCS community to take purposeful action. Older learners participate in community projects such as beach clean-ups. The initiative seeks new partnerships to extend environmental impact beyond the school.

Leadership and Professional

The House System fosters leadership and responsibility; learners are assigned to houses and house captains and vice-captains are elected by peers. Learners earn house points for positive contributions and take part in inter-house events such as swimming and athletics. The six JCS Learner Traits—Independent, resilient, collaborative, engaged, reflective and creative—guide leadership and personal development. The PFA provides leadership opportunities for parents and staff through an elected Executive Committee.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Pastoral care is central to school life, supporting social, emotional and personal development for every learner. Learners feel valued, supported and understood, with a strong sense of belonging. The six JCS Learner Traits underpin wellbeing, including independence, resilience, collaboration, engagement, reflection and creativity. The wellbeing approach emphasizes respectful communication, empathy and inclusion across the diverse school community.
