Founded in 2012 by Yayasan Suluh Semesta to provide high-quality, English-medium international education for Indonesian and expatriate children in Jogjakarta. JCS uses the UK Pearson Edexcel curriculum and is an approved Pearson Edexcel Examination Centre. As a not-for-profit school, it is governed by a parent and community-elected Board of Governors, supported by the YSS Trustees. In 2017, JCS moved to a purpose-built campus in north Jogjakarta. In October 2024, the Multi-Purpose Space opened, and in January 2026 a new Learning Block will open alongside the original Learning Block.
JCS is a community school with a learner-centred approach, recognizing every learner as an individual and encouraging exploration, confidence, and lifelong learning. The campus and programs are designed to be environmentally mindful and sustainable, with safety and security considered in planning. Leadership comes from Yayasan Suluh Semesta and the Board of Governors, and the school remains dedicated to serving learners, families and the wider Jogjakarta community with pride and purpose.
The JCS Parents and Friends Association (PFA) strengthens the partnership between families and the school. All families automatically become members of the PFA upon joining JCS. The PFA is led by an elected Executive Committee made up of parents and staff. It coordinates events, fundraising activities and communication between home and school and relies on the broader parent community to assist in organizing initiatives. The PFA promotes active involvement in school life, strengthens community, fosters social responsibility and builds strong partnerships with families and the local community.
