Sunrise School Bali follows the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) for Early Years, the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) for Year 1 to Year 6, and the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) for Year 7 to Year 9. These thematic curricula from England emphasise experiential learning, inquiry and developing life skills. Hands-on learning takes students out to the community, with beach clean-ups, visits to the Safari Park to study animals and habitats, and experiences such as chocolate production and gardening where students learn composting and recycling. Language development and Indonesian values and culture are integrated within IEYC, IPC and IMYC.
After-school activities include Arts and Crafts, Hip hop dance and Music.
Kurikulum Merdeka is incorporated and provides opportunities to learn language and Indonesian values and culture. Bahasa Indonesia is taught for Indonesian students and BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia for Foreigners) for international students. National curriculum subjects include Religion (Pendidikan Agama dan Budi Pekerti), Indonesian Citizenship (Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan), and Indonesian Culture (Sejarah dan Budaya Indonesia).
After-school activities include Soccer, Basketball and Board Games, with additional options such as Arts and Crafts, Hip hop dance and Music as part of enrichment.
Community Outreach and Service includes opportunities to act locally through food drives for the less advantaged, river cleanups and coral planting.
Yoga is taught weekly in the Yoga shala focusing on mindfulness and meditation. Mindfulness and Movement are practiced daily in morning circles and mindful minutes. The school also teaches Non Violent Communication (NVC), Living Values programs, and promotes environmental stewardship through Gardening and Horticulture, including a waste water garden, a bee hive and chickens.
Sunrise School Bali is an international community school founded in 2000 by parents who sought a nurturing, inquiry driven education. The school teaches in English and Indonesian and offers a blend of international and Indonesian curricula. Early Years follow the IEYC, Year 1 to 6 study the IPC, and Year 7 to 9 follow the IMYC; Indonesian standards are guided by Kurikulum 2013 and Kurikulum Merdeka. Learning is thematic and hands on, with beach clean ups, visits to the Safari Park, chocolate production, and school gardens teaching composting and sustainable farming. The campus emphasizes outdoor, garden based learning: a waste water garden, ponds, a stream, a beehive, chickens, and extensive vegetable and flower plots. The school runs after school activities across arts, sports, science, and cooking, alongside daily mindfulness and movement and weekly yoga. Sunrise is supported by Yayasan MACK, a Bali based nonprofit involved in education and community projects.
