Sunrise School Bali emphasizes outdoor, garden‑based learning. It includes a waste water garden (the first in Bali, built in 2000), small ponds and a small stream, plus extensive vegetable and flower gardens. A beehive and chickens are on site, and there are large open garden spaces for children to play and learn in. Learning is hands‑on and includes community experiences such as beach cleanups and trips to places like the Safari Park, a chocolate factory, and gardening projects.
Yoga is taught to all age groups once per week in a Yoga shala. After‑school activities include soccer and basketball.
Sunrise follows the IEYC for Early Years, IPC for Year 1–6 and IMYC for Year 7–9, with experiential and inquiry‑based learning. Gardening and horticulture are integrated through permaculture training and strong links with organic farmers and garden experts; fruits and vegetables grown in school gardens are harvested by students. The school also maintains a waste water garden and large open garden spaces to support hands‑on learning.
After‑school activities include Arts and Crafts, Hip hop dance, Music, Soccer, Basketball, Board Games, Science, Cooking, Martial Arts, Wellness Workshop and Scratch and Coding. Mindfulness and Movement are practiced daily, with weekly Yoga in a dedicated yoga space. Community Outreach and Service activities, such as food drives, river cleanups and coral planting, are part of Sunrise's learning.
Sunrise School Bali is an international community school founded in 2000 by parents who sought a nurturing, inquiry driven education. The school teaches in English and Indonesian and offers a blend of international and Indonesian curricula. Early Years follow the IEYC, Year 1 to 6 study the IPC, and Year 7 to 9 follow the IMYC; Indonesian standards are guided by Kurikulum 2013 and Kurikulum Merdeka. Learning is thematic and hands on, with beach clean ups, visits to the Safari Park, chocolate production, and school gardens teaching composting and sustainable farming. The campus emphasizes outdoor, garden based learning: a waste water garden, ponds, a stream, a beehive, chickens, and extensive vegetable and flower plots. The school runs after school activities across arts, sports, science, and cooking, alongside daily mindfulness and movement and weekly yoga. Sunrise is supported by Yayasan MACK, a Bali based nonprofit involved in education and community projects.
