Sunrise School Bali supports learners to meet academic, social and emotional challenges with openness and enthusiasm. Mindfulness and Movement are taught; staff are trained in mindfulness, and breathing and mindfulness practices are incorporated daily in morning circles and mindful minutes. Non Violent Communication is used in classrooms to help students express needs and feelings. Living Values programs including Mind-Up, Bravehearts and Friendly Schools teach protective behaviours and life skills. Community Outreach and Service opportunities invite learners to act locally, from food drives to river clean ups and coral planting. Morning Circle and Reflection Times provide regular opportunities for quiet reflection and celebration of learning.
Mindfulness and meditation practices are integrated daily to support students' mental wellbeing. Yoga sessions cultivate mindfulness and emotional regulation. Morning circles and mindful minutes help students self‑regulate and identify their emotions. Friday meditation during Morning Circle fosters a calm, reflective start to the day.
The school provides a safe, equitable, caring learning environment. Restorative practices are used to resolve conflicts and care for relationships, the environment and community.
Sunrise School Bali is an international community school founded in 2000 by parents who sought a nurturing, inquiry driven education. The school teaches in English and Indonesian and offers a blend of international and Indonesian curricula. Early Years follow the IEYC, Year 1 to 6 study the IPC, and Year 7 to 9 follow the IMYC; Indonesian standards are guided by Kurikulum 2013 and Kurikulum Merdeka. Learning is thematic and hands on, with beach clean ups, visits to the Safari Park, chocolate production, and school gardens teaching composting and sustainable farming. The campus emphasizes outdoor, garden based learning: a waste water garden, ponds, a stream, a beehive, chickens, and extensive vegetable and flower plots. The school runs after school activities across arts, sports, science, and cooking, alongside daily mindfulness and movement and weekly yoga. Sunrise is supported by Yayasan MACK, a Bali based nonprofit involved in education and community projects.
