Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

Homework help is available for all primary year levels and for secondary subjects. Indonesian language exam preparation, IGCSE Mathematics exam preparation, Religious Education, and Robotics are also offered. This supports students in developing academic skills across the primary and secondary levels.

Arts and Creative

Drama develops performance skills, confidence, communication, and leadership. It allows students to explore the world they live in, take risks, and express themselves. SES offers opportunities including an annual School Drama Show, a Talent Show, and a Film Club. Students also explore photography, graphic design, fine art, knitting, and watercolor painting as part of the arts program.

Cultural and Language

English is the language of instruction, with Indonesian (Bahasa), Mandarin, and French offered as language lessons. Students participate in Model United Nations conferences to develop diplomacy and global awareness. The school also provides World Scholar Cup opportunities. Trips and visits broaden cultural understanding.

Social and Hobbies

Drama, music, and dance are offered to support creative expression and collaboration. Annual opportunities include the School Drama Show, Talent Show, and Film Club. Arts activities also include photography, graphic arts, fine art, sewing, and watercolor painting.

Community and Service

SES has an ongoing student service program to support the local leukemia ward. Students participate in regular community projects that involve the local community and often run in tandem with environmental awareness initiatives. These activities foster social responsibility and civic engagement.

Leadership and Professional

Duke Of Edinburgh International Award is available to students aged 14 and above. Our teachers guide and facilitate students as they undertake the award across its levels. The program develops resilience, leadership, and independence in young people.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

The swimming program extends from basic water safety for younger students to training for older students. Wellness offerings include yoga, fitness training, meditation, and nutrition education. A variety of sports are offered each term, including basketball, football, golf, rugby, badminton, cricket, tee ball, gymnastics, table tennis, and futsal.

Surabaya European School (SES) is an international school in Pakuwon Indah, Surabaya, welcoming students aged 3–18. Founded in 1997 as Surabaya's first Montessori school with AMI-trained teacher, SES adopted the British National Curriculum in 2001 and gained Cambridge accreditation in 2011, with examinations conducted on site. Curriculum begins with Montessori in the early years, followed by Cambridge Primary and Secondary, Cambridge IGCSE in Years 10–11, and Cambridge A Levels in Years 12–13. English is the language of instruction; Indonesian is taught, Mandarin and French offered. Subjects include History, Geography, ICT, Computer Science, Global Perspectives, Art and Design, Physical Education, Drama, Mandarin, French and Bahasa Indonesia. Facilities include a Montessori Learning Area, Primary and Secondary Classrooms, Computer Laboratories, Lower and Upper Secondary Science Laboratories, and a Library. Sports facilities include a swimming pool, gym, tennis courts, and a football field. SES supports Duke of Edinburgh and World Scholar Cup program globally.
