The Co-Curricular Programme includes five Talent Trails: Active Trail (sport, swimming, gymnastics and movement); Creative Trail (art, music, drama and design); STEM & Strategy Trail (coding, chess, robotics and science); Communication & Culture Trail (Mandarin, debating, journalism and languages). There are over 30 clubs each term and inter-school fixtures. Pupils can earn Talent Trails Awards from Bronze to Platinum through sustained commitment or leadership.
Arts, Music & Creativity is central to ISJ's education, with every pupil receiving specialist music teaching from the first week and access to peripatetic lessons in instruments. Pupils perform on stage in assemblies and annual school productions, and study art in a dedicated studio with opportunities to exhibit work. Drama is part of the curriculum, with regular performances and showcases of creative work.
Mandarin is a key element of the Talent Trails, with the Communication & Culture Trail including Mandarin, debating, journalism and languages. Bahasa Indonesia is woven throughout the curriculum, with Indonesian language, history and culture taught at every stage. Language and cultural learning are integrated across Key Stages to support global citizenship.
There are over 30 co-curricular clubs each term and a four-house system that competes year-round. The programme includes 20+ sports in PE and clubs, with specialist clubs such as gymnastics, bouldering at IndoClimb Kemang, K-Pop dance, and competitive swimming squads. Pupils take part in house fixtures and inter-school competitions to develop teamwork and sportsmanship.
Leadership & Service is one of five pillars guiding character development. Pupils lead House teams, organise charity events, mentor younger peers, and represent the school in inter-school competitions. Community projects and partnerships weave service into the ISJ programme, with residential and field experiences that connect pupils to the wider world.
The Leadership & Service pillar shapes student leadership from the start, with opportunities to take on real responsibilities. Older pupils lead House teams, organise charity events, mentor younger peers, and represent the school in inter-school competitions, providing authentic leadership experiences. The co-curricular framework includes Talent Trails awards that recognise sustained commitment and leadership across activities.
Sport and physical activity are central to ISJ, with a broad range of physical pursuits and a broad PE curriculum. ISJ provides on-site facilities, including a swimming pool, and promotes lifelong fitness and wellbeing through sport, House competitions, trips, and outdoor learning. The program emphasizes resilience, teamwork, and healthy habits as part of everyday school life.
ISJ is a British international school in Pondok Indah, South Jakarta. Opened in 2021, it is part of The Schools Trust, a UK-based charity with decades of experience in international education. The school follows the English National Curriculum from Early Years through A Levels within a British independent school framework, organised as EYFS, Pre-Prep, Prep, Senior School (GCSEs) and Sixth Form (A-Levels). Ages 2 to 13 are welcomed on a single campus featuring a football pitch, an on-site swimming pool, and multiple classrooms in a leafy setting. Bahasa Indonesia is taught at every stage, with Indonesian language, history and culture woven into the curriculum; additional languages are incorporated. ISJ pupils consistently perform in the top 10% of international schools worldwide, with Year 7 SAS scores highlighted. The Co-Curricular Programme offers 30+ clubs per term and Talent Trails across four strands: Active, Creative, STEM & Strategy, and Communication & Culture globally. The arts, performances, and leadership opportunities complement academic study on a campus that emphasizes sport and wellbeing.
