The Ontario Canadian Curriculum is taught from Kindergarten to Grade 12 at the Canadian School of Florence, with Italian Paritaria accreditation at the Junior and Middle School campuses and anticipated for the Senior School. The Kindergarten program uses the same student-centered curriculum across all campuses. Assessment follows the Growing Success framework and the total-immersion English program develops 21st-century skills while supporting the cognitive, emotional, physical and social wellbeing of students.
Visual Arts and Music are core Areas of Study in the Primary Program, and Drama is taught in the Middle and Senior Schools. In Senior School, electives include Visual Arts, Photography, Fashion and other creative subjects, with arts-focused clubs such as Graphic Design, Music Club and Embroidery. The school also provides specialist instruction in Music, Visual Arts and Drama across different grade levels.
Total-immersion English language teaching supports strong language development across the school. The curriculum includes English Language Arts, Italian Language Arts, and French language and culture; Second languages taught include Italian and French. An EAL course provides additional English-language support for learners.
CSF offers a broad range of extracurricular activities across Senior, Middle and Junior Schools, including sports, clubs and cultural activities. Participation builds confidence, social skills and teamwork. The CSF Buddy Program and fundraising activities provide leadership opportunities and community involvement.
Volunteer and service are integrated into the Ontario curriculum at CSF. Senior School students complete 40 hours of volunteering over four years to graduate with the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Students also engage in fundraising and community initiatives, including Misericordia di Fiesole, Ukrainian refugee relief and Turkish earthquake relief.
The Signoria, CSF's Student Council, has nine voting members elected by students to represent the student body. The Guidance Counselor supports university preparation, organizing university fairs and guiding pathways via the MyBlueprint platform.
CSF emphasises holistic development, with a focus on cognitive, emotional, physical and social wellbeing as part of the Growing Success-based assessment. Middle and Senior Schools include Healthy Active Living, field trips and residential trips, with a house system and spirit days to foster community. Experiential learning and technology integration support students' wellbeing and engagement.
The Canadian School of Florence Senior School provides the Ontario Canadian Curriculum to students in Grades 9 through 12. Located in a renovated historical building near the center of Florence, the campus features a science laboratory, a multimedia hub, and a dedicated art studio. Students work toward the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), a qualification that allows for direct entry into universities worldwide. A standout feature of the school is its participation in the Junk Kouture competition, where students design high-fashion outfits from recycled materials, integrating creative arts with sustainability. As a member of the Globeducate network, the school involves students in international events and environmental initiatives in partnership with organizations like the WWF. The curriculum includes an Italian Paritaria pathway, ensuring local students can also meet national educational requirements. Small class groups facilitate personalized attention, while the city itself serves as an extended classroom for experiential learning and historical study.
