The Swiss School of Rome participates in the Students United Nations (SUN) in Geneva, giving pupils opportunities to engage in international diplomacy and debate. Class 3 art projects allow students to present their work through individual projects across media such as painting, drawing, architecture, sculpture, performance, photography, installation, dance or digital art. The school also showcases arts-related activities during events and exhibitions, including student performances at celebrations.
The SSR celebrates Swiss cultural traditions, such as Räbelichtli lantern parades in the garden. The school is bilingual in German and Italian, with strong English and the potential to reach French and Latin, supporting multilingual learning. Die Patenkinder is a peer-mentoring project where older students meet younger ones for reading, drawing, singing and playing, fostering mutual respect and belonging. There is an Administrative Board that governs the Swiss School of Rome, led by a President and a formal governance structure. The sessions include yoga games and a finale open class for parents, with a new course starting after holidays. Swiss School Rome is a day school in Rome offering a bespoke curriculum for students aged 3 to 18. It is officially recognised as a Swiss School Abroad in both Switzerland and Italy, reflecting a cross-border educational experience. The school leads to the Swiss Matura, following the Canton of St. Gallen directives, and concludes with the Federal Maturità Certificate, enabling access to Italian higher education. The middle school ends with Italian Licenza Media, and the program integrates German-Italian bilingual instruction with strong English and opportunities to study French and Latin. Students progress from pre-kindergarten through elementary and secondary levels across two campuses, with daily care and extended hours where available.
