Facilities Overview

Canadian Academy's nine-acre campus on Rokko Island in Kobe houses the PreK–12 divisions and on-site boarding facilities. The campus is anchored by a large atrium with a performance space and provides direct access to the Main Library and the cafeteria. There are two world-class theater spaces, two full-size gymnasia, two sports fields, and on-site tennis courts. The Main Library and the ELAC Library offer extensive resources, including a Maker Space and a tatami room. Renovations completed around 2025 updated the library, atrium, cafeteria, and other learning and boarding spaces to support flexible, interconnected learning.

Sports Facilities

The campus includes two full-size gymnasia. There are two sports fields on site, including a full-size Eli-Lilly soccer pitch and a Nestlé field. On-campus tennis courts support practice and competition. The athletics program spans elementary through high school, with teams and competitions including APAC events.

Academic Facilities

The school operates two library spaces: the ELAC Library in the Early Learning and Activities Center and the Main Library at the heart of the campus. The Main Library includes a Maker Space and a tatami room to support collaborative and cultural learning. The library collection totals over 35,000 volumes, with access to online databases and digital resources. Library staff provide research assistance and tech support, and loaner laptops and iPads are available for students.

Extra-Curricular Activities

The Arts program is supported by two world-class theater spaces on campus and an extensive Arts curriculum that includes visual arts, theatre, dance, and music. The Arts spaces were renovated in 2025 to enhance creative learning, and the atrium serves as a central performance space and gathering area for arts events. The Main Library Maker Space complements the campus arts and creative activities, and students participate in a wide range of after-school arts offerings and performances. The CA Experience program links creativity with service and performance opportunities across the campus.

Canadian Academy is a PreK–Grade 12 international day and boarding school in Kobe, Japan. THe school was founded in 1913 and is located on Rokko Island. The school offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum from Pre-K through Grade 12, including the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma programmes. Early Childhood includes programmes for 3 and 4-year-olds, with literacy and numeracy introduced in age-appropriate ways, as well as specialist classes that can include Japanese. Beyond classes, students can join activities such as Robotics Club, Model United Nations, science clubs and publications, alongside service clubs. For boarding, the school describes a programme for about 40 high school students from over 20 countries, studying in English while living in Japan.
