Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Enishi International School traces its origins to 2002 when Baharu Education opened Abroad Learning Center to serve a diverse international community and Japanese learners interested in world languages and cultures. In 2007 Baharu Education opened its third international school in Nagoya, a kindergarten, starting in Sakae and later moving to the Misonoza building in Fushimi as enrollment grew and elementary education was envisioned. In 2012 a Primary School was opened in the Misonoza facility, and the school became certified as a Cambridge International School while exploring the International Baccalaureate framework. In 2013 the school relocated to Ark Sakae Shirakawa Park building near Shirakawa Park, and in 2019, with the agreement of the City of Nagoya and Aichi Prefecture, the Primary School reformed as Enishi International School to better nurture internationally minded learners. Enishi International School is governed as a Gakko Hojin (educational corporation) under status granted by Aichi Prefecture, reflecting its formal governance and regulatory framework.

Community

Enishi International School's community comprises students from the Early Learning Center through the Diploma Programme, their families, and school staff, with active engagement through the PTA and the Enishi Community Club. The PTA Autumn Picnic brings together families, students, and teachers from across all grades for a day of connection and activities in Meijo Park, organized by the PTA. The school also hosts and participates in events such as Picnic Day at Shonai Ryokuchi Park, and supports cultural activities like Japanese Culture Day and a World Food Event that involve families across the school.

Parent-Teacher Association

The PTA's objective is to support Enishi International School's vision and mission through volunteer events, fundraising, and classroom assistance. It holds regular monthly meetings and organizes social events to foster a positive community among parents. The PTA coordinates activities across the full range of grades, including Autumn Picnic and Picnic Day, and provides volunteer support for school events and field trips. The PTA's work is complemented by the school's broader community initiatives and the active involvement of families in school life through the Parents section and school news.
