Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

The Higashikasai campus follows the GIIS 9GEMS framework, which includes Academic Excellence as a focus area that blends innovative teaching with an experiential curriculum. The school provides course enrichment activities after each concept, such as quizzes, group projects, and short tests to reinforce understanding. Co-curricular offerings include Science Club and Innovation Club, which promote inquiry and problem solving beyond the standard curriculum. Additional clubs such as General Knowledge and Spelling and Speeches support critical thinking, research skills, and effective communication.

Arts and Creative

Arts and performing arts are central to the Higashikasai Co-Curricular program. Students can participate in Indian classical dance such as Bharatanatyam and Kathak, as well as Bollywood Dance, and study Tabla and Carnatic vocal music. Visual arts options include Origami, Cartoon Drawing, and Pen Calligraphy, with Craft Club providing hands-on projects. The offerings in performing arts and visual arts are integrated into the broader ECA/CCA framework at the campus.

Cultural and Language

Spanish Club provides language learning and cultural exposure for students. Pianica and Japanese song offerings support language learning alongside music and culture, while Spelling and Speeches develop language proficiency and public-speaking skills. These language- and culture-oriented activities complement the performing and visual arts options already available.

Social and Hobbies

A variety of social and hobby activities are available, including Board Games (Chess and Carrom) for strategic thinking and social interaction, and dance-oriented clubs such as Girls' Hip Hop. Visual and creative hobbies are supported through Cartoon Drawing and Origami, with Craft Club offering additional maker activities. These clubs encourage peer collaboration and informal skill-building outside the classroom.

Community and Service

Community involvement is part of the GIIS 9GEMS framework, with activities that include community events and charity drives to cultivate social responsibility and connection with the local community. The Community and Care emphasis is designed to foster service-minded habits and a sense of global citizenship among students.

Leadership and Professional

Leadership development is integrated into the GIIS approach, with entrepreneurship and leadership activities such as the Entrepreneurship Boot Camp. These opportunities build communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills beyond core academics. Mentoring and skills-building initiatives complement classroom learning to prepare students for future academic and professional pathways.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Wellbeing is supported through a broad sports program, including soccer, volleyball, badminton, tennis, and table tennis, with karate also offered as a physical activity. The campus highlights a Cricket Academy as part of Co-Curricular Activities. Mindfulness and meditation are emphasized within the 9GEMS framework as part of Personality Development to promote physical and mental health.
