Let the school know you're thinking of applying — they can share their prerequisites and help you through the process.
It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
1. Step 1: Initial inquiry and contact. Parents should reach out to GIIS Tokyo Kita Kasai to express interest and ask questions about programs, campus facilities, and the admissions timeline. You can use the Enquiry Form, email, or phone to start a dialogue with the admissions team, who respond by email or phone and guide you to the next steps. The school term begins in April, and new students may be admitted throughout the year provided seats are available.
2. Step 2: Campus Visit (or Meeting). After initial contact, arrange a campus visit or a counselling meeting with an admissions counsellor, in person or virtually. The visit provides first-hand information on school offerings, student life, and the benefits of GIIS Tokyo, while virtual counselling helps you understand the admission process, curriculums, and subjects offered. Admissions staff can coordinate a campus tour or a virtual session to discuss options and next steps.
3. Step 3: Submit Application Form. When you are ready to proceed, complete the admission application form and submit it with the required documents. A one-time, non-refundable registration fee is payable to confirm the seat, and there are separate forms for scholarship applications with guidance from scholarship experts. Shortlisted candidates may undergo a separate admission process beyond the standard steps.
4. Step 4: Payment Of Term 1 Fees. If the student meets the admission criteria and all procedures are completed, the first term fees must be paid before the start of the term; admissions that occur mid-year may have the term fees prorated. The term fee is charged per term (4 months) under the applicable curriculum structure.
5. Step 5: Documentation. Prepare and submit the required documents: birth certificate, proof of residential address, the child's recent passport-size photo, and a medical certificate. Without the proper documentation, applications may be rejected, so gather these items in advance to avoid delays.
GIIS Tokyo Kita Kasai does not publish a formal waitlist or pool system. Admissions are open throughout the year, subject to seat availability, with the school term beginning in April. Families are advised to contact the admissions team to check current seat availability and potential waitlist status if seats are not immediately available.
GIIS Tokyo offers a range of scholarships for students in Grades 1–12, including categories such as academics, sports, and merit-cum-means. Scholarships operate on a cycle, with opportunities available monthly under the Global Schools Foundation, and there is a scholarship brochure and expert staff to guide applicants. A notable program is the 20-Year Anniversary Merit and Means Scholarship, available to eligible students (e.g., for CBSE/IBPYP tracks, with examples shown for Grade 1–9) and ending around March 2028; applicants can apply online or contact a scholarship expert for details. Some scholarships are specifically described as tuition waivers.
Other notes include: the Sadako Ogata Scholarship is listed as open for applications and is part of GIIS Tokyo's scholarship offerings, alongside other scholarships; the scholarship cycle lasts one month and is run under the Global Schools Foundation framework.
