Kohana International School uses the IPC and Cambridge curricula to structure academic learning with experiential, inquiry-based activities. Arts and creative activities are integrated across the grade levels. In pre-primary, activities include music and dance, puppetry, storytelling, drawing, coloring, origami, and other crafts. In later years, students participate in panel theatre, drama activities, and film-related experiences such as movie time.

The school conducts annual Sports Day and hosts overnight camps, including the NorthStar camp in Nagano.
