Malvern College Tokyo offers a broad co-curricular programme with more than 100 activities each week, spanning academic enrichment, sport, creativity, leadership, innovation, and wellbeing. Coding is included in the co-curricular offer, alongside other clubs and activities. Prep 1–3 co-curricular activities run on Tuesdays and Thursdays and operate in six‑week cycles to expose pupils to a wide range of experiences and to develop inquiry, communication and collaboration.
The Performing Arts Department focuses on music, drama and performance through an inquiry-based approach, with opportunities to engage in structured practice and collaborative projects. The department is a LAMDA-accredited centre, enabling pupils to pursue internationally recognised qualifications in performance and public speaking. Small class sizes and expert guidance foster confidence, artistic growth and strong communication skills.
Malvern College Tokyo hosts cultural events such as the Sakura Culture Festival, a multicultural celebration featuring Japanese and British tea tastings, traditional dances, interactive games and English calligraphy. The school provides mandatory daily Japanese lessons for all pupils to support bilingual learning alongside the English-medium curriculum. The Malvern family network also enables cross-campus exchange opportunities to deepen cultural understanding and global perspectives.
Co-curricular activities number more than 100 each week, with programmes running lunchtime and after school. Prep 1–3 CCAs operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while Prep 4 and above CCAs are offered Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (lunchtime and after school) and on Wednesdays at lunchtime only. The wide range of activities supports curiosity, collaboration and personal interests beyond the core curriculum.
Service learning is a core part of the co-curricular programme, with opportunities for volunteering and community engagement integrated into school life. Malvern Role Models highlight pupils' and staff's contributions through service, leadership and community impact. The school's pastoral and tutor structures support mentoring and opportunities to serve beyond the classroom.
Leadership development is embedded in school life through the six-house pastoral system and dedicated tutor mentoring, plus student leadership roles within House activities. Malvern Role Models profiles illustrate pupils taking on leadership responsibilities and contributing to the school and wider community. The pastoral framework provides ongoing mentoring and opportunities for pupils to develop ethical leadership and collaborative skills.
Sport forms a central part of daily life at Malvern College Tokyo, with a structured programme that develops physical skills, resilience, teamwork and leadership while promoting lifelong health and wellbeing. Sport is linked to character development, helping pupils become balanced, reflective learners who value effort, perseverance and respect. Malvern College Tokyo opened in August 2023 and is located in Kodaira, a residential and academic area in western Tokyo, approximately 40 minutes from the city centre by train. The school offers the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP), with English as the main language of instruction. All pupils study Japanese daily, with classes organised by language proficiency. The campus includes specialist facilities such as science laboratories, a library and a STEAM and Design Makerspace equipped with tools including 3D printers and laser cutters. Sports facilities include a two-storey gymnasium, a full-size all-weather sports pitch and a running track. The school also features a Sakura Garden, which is used for outdoor learning and community events, including the annual Sakura Culture Festival. Malvern College Tokyo currently operates as a day school and provides school bus services on selected routes.
