Nagoya International School (NIS) holds three core accreditations that underpin its international reputation:
- Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC): Fully accredited by WASC since 1976. This regional US accreditation is widely recognized and supports transfer and admission to universities worldwide, signaling sustained quality in governance, curriculum, and student support.
- Council of International Schools (CIS): Fully accredited by CIS since 2012, with ongoing cycles of evaluation. CIS/WASC jointly administers the accreditation, a framework seen as a gold standard for international schools and designed to ensure strong alignment with international learning, well‑being, and global citizenship. The school was re-accredited by CIS on May 16, 2024.
- International Baccalaureate (IB): NIS is an IB World School authorized to offer the three IB programs—Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). The IB‑continuum designation indicates alignment with IB standards across preschool through high school. NIS's PYP accreditation has been in place since 2012, and the school provides the full IB DP at the high school level.
Nagoya International School (NIS) is an international day school in Nagoya, Japan, established in 1964.
