Let the school know you're thinking of applying — they can share their prerequisites and help you through the process.
It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
The school does not have dormitories or boarding facilities. Students relocating from overseas or other prefectures relocate with their families and commute to campus. The school supports families in finding suitable accommodation through partnerships with Okinawa's top real estate agencies, and some students use the school bus service to commute to and from campus.
The school requires a uniform. The on-site shop sells PE kit items (PE Shirt, PE Pants, Socks) as part of the uniform offerings. The total cost for the standard school uniform is around 42,000–45,000 yen. The uniform was renewed in 2016.
The school is governed by the School Corporation PST Academy, established in 2020. PST Academy operates multiple educational programs in Okinawa, including a high-school program, and the school sits within this organizational group.
Okinawa International School (OIS) opened in April 2003 and provides education from preschool through high school across its programs. OIS is an IB Continuum School. It became authorized for IB PYP (2011), IB MYP (2016) and IB DP (2020), making it Okinawa’s first and only school offering the full IB pathway. In the elementary years, students learn through the IB PYP approach and complete a PYP Exhibition, presenting inquiry learning. OIS also highlights a local-language element in elementary school by offering “しまくとぅば” (Okinawan language) classes. At high school level, OIS offers an IB course and an additional International Liberal Arts (ILA) course option.
