OWIS Osaka opened in August 2023 as the Osaka campus of One World International School, led by Founding Head of School Greg Culos. It is located on the site of the former Kyu-sono Elementary School in Ikuno-ku, Osaka. The campus operates under the Global Schools Foundation umbrella as part of the Global Schools Group (GSG). The school plans to become a full K-12 program, adding a new grade each year with Grade 12 projected to open in 2029. Since launch, OWIS Osaka has emphasised inquiry-based, student-centered learning within a welcoming, multicultural community.
OWIS Osaka fosters a multicultural and inclusive community, aligned with a One World – One Community ethos that values every voice and background. Community events run year-round, including cultural festivals (Spring Carnival, Summer Matsuri), Open Campus days, and project-based learning experiences that bring students, families, and staff together. The school offers after-school programmes (ACES) and seasonal camps, with a range of clubs such as sports, arts, enrichment, and languages open to students and families. The campus features facilities that support holistic learning—interactive classrooms, a rooftop swimming pool, a black box theatre, robotics and 3D printing spaces, a gym, music and art studios, and a library—underpinning the school's emphasis on well-being and exploration.
OWIS Osaka does not publish a formal Parent-Teacher Association in its public materials. Parent involvement is supported through ACES (After-School, Clubs, Extracurricular & Seasonal) Programmes, which include after-school clubs such as hip-hop, basketball, art, intensive English, and chess, and are open to all students and families. Seasonal camps operate in summer, winter, and spring, offering themed, hands-on learning and opportunities for families to engage with the school community. Information sessions, including Chinese Information Sessions held on the first Wednesday of every month, and Open Campus events provide channels for family involvement and dialogue with staff. The school also directs families to participate through Community Programmes and regular school communications, which support ongoing engagement with learning and school life. The overall approach is framed by a culture of kindness and inclusivity that underpins family involvement in OWIS Osaka.
