Admissions

How to apply, waitlist information, and financial support

Admissions Process

1. Admissions Process
The admissions journey begins when you contact the OWIS Tsukuba admissions counsellor. The counsellor will act as your guide through the process, answering questions and arranging a campus visit. You'll discuss your child's needs and interests during this initial contact, helping tailor the next steps to your family. A tour of the Tsukuba campus will be scheduled as part of this first phase to give you a clear sense of the environment and programs on offer.

2. Campus Visit and Application Review
During your campus visit, the admissions counsellor walks you through the application form and directs you on how to pay the application fee online. This is the point to ask detailed questions about the curriculum, English language support, transport, and any specific needs your child may have. You should bring any required supporting documents or prior school records so the counsellor can outline exactly what will be needed for a complete submission. After this session, you'll know what to submit and how to proceed with the application.

3. Student Services and Logistics
After the application is submitted, you return to the school for a session with Student Services. They will issue uniforms, photo IDs, and arrange practical supports such as lunches and bus services if needed. This step also covers access to school resources and any orientation materials your family will use. It's a coordination point for practical arrangements that support your child's first weeks.

4. Finance and Beginning of Enrollment
The final step is meeting with the finance department to pay for the first term tuition. Once the payment is complete and all prior steps are satisfied, your child is formally ready to start at OWIS Tsukuba. If there are any pending items, the admissions team will advise on timelines and next actions.

Waitlist

2) Waitlist / Pool
OWIS Tsukuba uses a waitlist mechanism related to nationality caps. If a transferring student's nationality would exceed the cap for OWIS in Japan, the child will be placed on a waiting list. Transfers within OWIS are given priority, which can affect the timing of admission for new entrants coming from outside the OWIS network. The school aims to accommodate as many students as possible and does not reject students solely because the grade is over-subscribed; when needed, additional sections can be created. Additionally, if a grade is very small, the school will maintain separate classes rather than merging grades.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

3) Scholarships
OWIS Japan offers annual scholarship opportunities managed under the Global Schools Group (GSG) to support meritorious students from diverse backgrounds. The program emphasizes access to OWIS's academic pathway and aims to reward hard work and promise. Scholarships are described as annual, with each cycle having a one-month application window.
