Shinagawa International School traces its origins to 2007 in Shibuya. In June 2018, the school relocated to Shinagawa Seaside to accommodate growth and to provide modern facilities. The school has since expanded to three campuses: Aoyoko Campus for early years, Seaside Campus for Grades 1–3, and Samezu Campus for Grades 4–12. It operates as an IB Continuum School with Primary Years, Middle Years, and Diploma Programmes. The school is a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS) and is undergoing accreditation.
Shinagawa International School hosts a multicultural community with staff and students representing more than 40 nationalities. Parents are active participants in school life, contributing to a collaborative learning environment. The year-round calendar features diverse events, including International Children's Day, Sports Day, Literacy Week, STEAM Day, Japanese Cultural Day, and Celebrations of Learning, as well as School Performances. The After School Program offers activities such as robotics and dance, enriching the community outside regular classes.
The Shinagawa International School PTA is a parent-led volunteer group focused on enhancing education and creating an inclusive community. All families automatically become PTA members; parents participate by volunteering at events, serving on the committee or as class representatives, and assisting PTA-led projects. The PTA is governed by a constitution and is run by a seven-member leadership committee, including the president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, health and well-being coordinator, the head of school, and a staff representative; additional roles include event coordinators and class representatives. A PTA Handbook is available to guide participation, and the PTA can be contacted at pta@sistokyo.jp. The PTA works with the school to support a broad program of events and initiatives that align with SIS's calendar of diverse events and activities.
Shinagawa International School (SIS), founded in 2007, offers the full International Baccalaureate continuum: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). The Seaside Campus serves Grades 1–3 and forms part of the school’s PYP pathway across SIS campuses in Tokyo. Located in the Shinagawa Seaside area, the campus is supported by practical student services, including an organised school bus system with multiple routes and on-site daycare for younger children. Student life includes a structured afterschool programme with activities spanning arts, sports, academic clubs and service initiatives, as well as residential trips and swimming classes that are part of the school programme. SIS also operates a four-week Summer School, which features hands-on projects across science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics, along with weekly field trips. These programmes reflect the school’s emphasis on inquiry-based learning and real-world experiences within the IB framework.
