Language Provision

Language learning opportunities and multilingual education

Language Provision

Languages taught include Arabic and English across IEC programs. In the National Program, instruction is primarily Arabic, with English taught in Science and Math and a dedicated English-conversation component for Grades 1–8 to support non-native speakers. The British Programme includes Arabic as a First Language and English as a Second Language, with English-taught core subjects and a German language department within the American Program. The IB program offers English and Arabic across PYP, MYP, and DP, with Arabic B and English B language acquisition options.

Bilingual Teaching

IEC offers language provision across multiple programs rather than a single school-wide bilingual program. The National Program is delivered primarily in Arabic, with English integrated in Science and Math and an English-conversation component for Grades 1–8 to bolster spoken English. The British Programme uses Arabic as a First Language and includes English as a Second Language, with English-taught subjects and a German department within the American Program. The International Baccalaureate (IB) program provides instruction in English and Arabic across PYP, MYP, and DP, with language-acquisition options in Arabic and English.

The Islamic Educational College (IEC) Schools in Amman offer multiple curricula across two campuses, serving students from early years through to pre-university levels. IEC runs a National Program aligned to the Jordanian Ministry of Education (Tawjihi) and separate Boys and Girls schools for Grades 5–12, plus specialist programs including the British IGCSE-IAL, American AHSD, and the International Baccalaureate (PYP, MYP, DP) as part of IEC's multi-program model. The college also runs a BTEC program and a thriving range of extra-curriculars, including a broad student clubs program and community-service activities. Kindergarten programs operate at both Jabal Amman and Jubeiha, with KG1–KG2 available, and the schools emphasize project-based and inquiry learning, leadership development, and emphasis on both Islamic and wider educational values. The campuses host a variety of facilities (libraries, laboratories, theatres, mosques) and support university and career guidance through dedicated teams. Substantial student life activities include academic competitions, field trips, and a large and active clubs program (over two decades of activity).
