Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Founded in 1992, Jordanian International Schools (JIS) is a private, board‑governed educational institution in Jordan. The school is governed by a Board of Trustees that sets long‑term goals, oversees governance and financial responsibility, and fosters a caring, future‑ready learning environment. The Board is composed of professionals, educators, and community leaders who work with school leadership to ensure integrity, accountability, and continual improvement. JIS is licensed by the Jordanian Ministry of Education and is recognized by international school associations, ensuring Tawjihi equivalency and alignment with global university standards. Over more than three decades, JIS has grown to serve a diverse student community and expanded its programs and campus.

Community

JIS describes its community as diverse and inclusive, with a mix of local Jordanian families and expatriate students and staff. The school emphasizes parental and community engagement, supported by formal channels such as the Parents & Teachers Association (PTA). PTA activities include a welcome breakfast, annual school fair or cultural day, fundraisers, parent workshops on digital safety and mental health, teacher appreciation events, and student support initiatives. The school hosts and participates in events such as National Day observances and student exhibitions, reflecting its active community life.

Parent-Teacher Association

The PTA at Jordanian International Schools plays a vital role in fostering open communication, organizing meaningful events, and supporting initiatives that enhance the school experience. It coordinates volunteer opportunities and committees (e.g., event planning, class representatives) to involve parents in school life. PTA activities include a welcome breakfast or coffee mornings, an annual school fair or cultural day, fundraisers, parent workshops on topics such as digital safety and mental health, and teacher appreciation events. The PTA advocates for student welfare and holistic growth and supports school improvement initiatives through parent involvement and volunteerism. Leadership among the PTA is reflected by named members such as Mrs. Dalal Abu Al‑Rish (Secretary) and other active members listed on the PTA page, including Ghada Shannar, Rima Al‑Khasawneh, and Lina Abu Rashid.
