Admissions

How to apply, waitlist information, and financial support

Admissions Process

1. Applications are accepted year-round. No official decision on an application is given until all relevant documents have been received. With the exception of the Kindergarten program, MMS aims to communicate an acceptance or denial within 72 hours after the application is reviewed.

2. Prepare and submit the required materials. Use the MMS application form appropriate for Nursery–KG2 or Grades 1–12 in English or Arabic, and email the completed form to the admissions office. Include a passport-sized photograph, the applicant statement (Grades 4–12 advised to be in English if possible), school transcripts or reports (in English or Arabic with official translations if needed), and a financial clearance statement from the previous school. Provide copies of identity papers (National ID or Passport) and a medical form, along with the School–Student–Parent contract. For Grades 1–12, include a confidential academic recommendation form from the applicant's current school. Enrollment materials must be organized and submitted with the application.

3. Entrance exam and interview. MMS conducts an entrance exam for candidates applying to the Primary, Middle, and Senior Schools, with the candidate also undergoing a personal interview (in person or via Zoom if needed). The entrance exam covers English, Mathematics, and Arabic, and interviews are scheduled within 72 hours after the exam. Acceptance or denial is communicated by the end of the third day following the exam.

4. Entrance exam fee. A non-refundable entrance exam fee of 50 JOD is required to sit the exam. The fee is paid prior to the examination.

5. Documentation review and decision timeline. Applications for admission are reviewed by the Admissions Committee, which includes an admissions officer and the relevant principal and program coordinator for the grade level. Decisions are communicated to parents/guardians within 3 days after review, with additional follow-up as needed. For DP and MYP, full transcripts for two years are required, while PYP requires one prior year.

6. Grade placement and accommodation. Students are generally placed according to their age on January 1 of their entry year. Exceptions may occur in coordination with parents/guardians, and final decisions rest with the relevant principal. If placement requires adjustments, this is discussed with the family and may occur within the first two months of entry.

7. Special admissions considerations. MMS has a Learning Enrichment and Achievement Department (LEAD) to support learners with special needs. Admission may be possible with appropriate support if resources allow; applicants with special needs must provide relevant reports (IEPs, psychological, speech and language reports). The Admissions Committee may request a psycho-educational evaluation when necessary.

8. Post-review acceptance and registration. If accepted, a formal letter of acceptance along with the Registration Contract is sent to the family. The contract must be completed and returned within two weeks, with enrollment fees paid to officially reserve the seat. Depending on grade level and program, additional subject-choice forms may be required. If the seat is not accepted within the two-week window, it may be offered to another family on the waiting list.

9. Staff children admissions. MMS staff members wishing to enroll their child follow the same application procedure as other applicants. Details are provided in the admissions policy and staff documentation.

10. Orientation and re-registration. Prior to the start of the academic year, new students and families attend an orientation session covering the welcome kit, student–parent manuals, school rules, and conduct expectations. Re-registration occurs in late January with a formal form and deposit to secure seat reservations.

11. Contact for inquiries. For admissions questions, contact MMS Admissions Office via the listed email and phone numbers; the school is located in Khalda, Amman.

Waitlist

Waiting lists exist when a student is accepted but no space is immediately available in the appropriate class. The MMS Admissions Policy states that the family will be notified by letter or email about the waitlist placement. When a place becomes available, it is offered first to the student on the waiting list, with priority given to board members' children, former Montessori Amman students, MMS staff children, and considerations of gender and language balance in the class. A seat on the waiting list does not guarantee immediate admission.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

Scholarships and discounts are described in MMS Admissions Policy. Types include: Academic Rank (One in class for grades 4–11) 100% discount; Sports scholarships (membership in a recognized national team) 25%; Gold–Silver Olympic Medal in an international competition 25%; World Achievements: Rank One 25%, Rank Two 20%, Rank Three 15%. Alumni discounts amount to 10% off tuition. All discounts and scholarships are calculated on a pro-rata basis relative to tuition. The policy also lists other related terms and conditions.
