Modern Montessori School opened in 1985 in Amman, Jordan, as a Montessori kindergarten. It later expanded to a full K–12 program, aligning with the International Baccalaureate continuum (PYP, MYP, DP). In 1994 the school acquired the Montessori methodology and training capacities of the London Montessori Center and translated materials into Arabic to support a bilingual program. The school now serves over 1,600 students and is recognized as one of Jordan's leading IB schools. In October 2025 MMS joined Inspired Education Group, integrating into a global network of premium schools.
The MMS learning community includes students, families and staff who participate in a broad range of student-life activities such as the Model United Nations, career counseling, sports and performing arts. Involvement from parents, teachers, and the wider community is central to MMS's educational approach. MMS hosts and participates in regional events, including the Jordan Schools' League and the Swimming Schools' League, and it has organized cultural events such as the 29th International Drawing Contest This is My Mexico. An active MMS Alumni Association supports graduates and engagement with the school, and partnerships and events promote ongoing community connection.
The MMS Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a nine-member elected committee representing both parents/guardians and teachers. The PTA aims to ensure a safe, productive and stimulating environment and to strengthen communication and collaboration among parents, teachers, staff and students. Initiatives include an Alumni Association and Strategic Partnerships to connect MMS with international universities and a broader alumni network. Parents/guardians and staff are invited to attend general PTA meetings or volunteer for PTA subcommittees, with time commitments that can be large or small. PTA activities focus on raising awareness of issues, increasing parental involvement and enhancing the overall MMS experience for all community members.
