Founded in 2004, The International Academy Amman was launched as a non-profit model school of excellence by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah II. It was intended to serve as a hub for teacher training within a network of specialists at the Teachers Academy, supporting Jordan's broader education reform. The school is an IB World School authorized to offer IB programmes and is accredited by both the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC); NEASC initial accreditation was granted in 2012 and its last visit occurred in 2022, with CIS accreditation reaffirmed in 2022. The student body comprises more than 1,200 learners representing over 25 nationalities, reflecting the school's international character.
The International Academy Amman hosts a diverse, international community with more than 1,200 students from over 25 nationalities. The school supports a broad range of co-curricular activities through the IAA Hawks program, with offerings from KG1 through Grade 12 to foster physical, social, and leadership development. Arts and performance are a visible part of campus life, with facilities such as Dr. Mohammad Hamdan's Theatre supporting plays and performances. The school also hosts leadership and global-awareness activities, including the IMUN conference (IMUN '25), which enhances students' debate and diplomatic skills.
Public materials do not document a formal parent teacher association (PTA) for The International Academy Amman. Parent engagement is implemented through school-led channels, including a dedicated Parent Resources Page on Moodle and a range of parent-facing resources. The Moodle portal hosts a Parent Resources Page and a Parent Information Manual, as well as orientation materials for new families, to support ongoing parental involvement. There are explicit parent-focused events and sessions, such as Parent Information Sessions on service learning and interdisciplinary units, and orientation for new families; a Secondary Parent Conference page indicates regular opportunities for parent–teacher dialogue. Additional IB-specific parent resources include the DP Handbook and parent information pages connected to the IB programme, demonstrating structured parent engagement within the school's programs.
