After-school clubs develop analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. STEM (1-3 grade) meets Tue/Thu 16:00–16:40. My Math (4 grade) meets Tue 16:00–16:40. For older students, Model United Nations (MUN) and the Miras Debate Club provide opportunities for research, public speaking, and structured argumentation.
Drama/Musical club for grades 1-4 meets Tue/Thu after school in the School theatre. ART clubs serve both primary and secondary students with after-school sessions. Choir/ensemble (1-4 grade) and Dance (1-4 grade) meet Tue/Thu after school. Lego-design is offered as a creative activity; paid music options include piano, guitar, solfeggio, and Life Band.
English club exists for 1-2 and for 3-4 grades with Tue/Thu after-school sessions. English, French, and Kazakh language activities are offered in paid club programs.
Clubs include Chess Club, International games, and Amusing Russian to broaden linguistic and strategic skills. Climbing, Miras Cheerleaders, Dance, and Art clubs provide creative and physical activities. Football, Volleyball, Basketball, and a Miras ski club offer team sports and outdoor pursuits.
Model United Nations (MUN) is offered for grades 8-12 on Thursdays. Miras Debate Club is for grades 7-12 on Thursdays. Press Center (Newspaper and magazine) serves grades 5-12, and Drama/Musical club serves grades 5-12. These activities develop leadership, research, public speaking, journalism, and collaboration.
Football (grade 5-12) runs Mon, Wed, and Fri 15:30–17:00 on the football field. Volleyball (5-12) and Basketball (5-12) run Tue/Thu and Mon/Wed/Fri respectively in the SS gym. Fitness (5-12), Climbing, and Miras Cheerleaders are offered, with additional activities such as Swimming, Miras ski club (from November 2023), and Taekwondo (KG and primary/secondary). Paid Ballet and other dance programs are also available.
Miras International School Almaty is an IB World School offering the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme, alongside curriculum that integrates Kazakhstani standards. Serving students aged 3 to 18, school teaches in Kazakh, English and Russian, with English instruction continuing through Diploma Programme. The DP is taught in English, with six subjects across six groups and core requirements Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, and Creativity, Activity and Service. End of Year 10 results include the IBMYP certificate via eAssessment. Opened in 1999, it is affiliated with NNEF, accredited by Council of International Schools, and authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization. Alumni study at universities worldwide. MIS campus features science and computer labs, art, music, drama and dance spaces, a greenhouse, libraries and IT-enabled classrooms; sport facilities include a pool, football field, two gyms and a climbing wall. The school emphasizes multilingualism and student leadership through co-curricular program.
