Fees

Application / registration fee

- A non-refundable registration/application fee of KSh 5,000 is payable when returning a completed registration form.

Security / tuition deposit

- A refundable deposit is charged once on joining: KSh 15,000 for all listed year groups. The deposit must be topped up for losses or breakages if required and the balance (if any) is refundable at the end of the pupil's final term following clearance by the headteacher.

Tuition fees (annual and per-term breakdown)

- Pre-Crèche & Crèche: Annual tuition KSh 419,700. Billed in three tranches (August, December, April): KSh 139,900 per term.

- FS1 (Nursery) & FS2 (Reception): Annual tuition KSh 541,200. Billed in three tranches: KSh 180,400 per term.

- Year 1 to Year 6: Annual tuition KSh 1,071,000. Billed in three tranches: KSh 357,000 per term.

- Year 7 to Year 10: Annual tuition KSh 1,108,800. Billed in three tranches: KSh 369,600 per term.

- Year 11: Annual tuition KSh 1,108,800. Billed in two tranches (August and December): KSh 554,400 per billing. (Years 12 and 13 are billed in two tranches where applicable.)

Transport (annual rates)

- Zone 1: KSh 75,000 per year.
- Zone 2: KSh 117,900 per year.
- Zone 3: KSh 150,000 per year.

- Transport family discount: 50% reduction on transport charges for the 2nd and each subsequent sibling on the same route.

What the tuition covers and what is not included

- Tuition fees as published are fully inclusive of all approved textbooks and exercise books, and they indicate costs for tuition, lunch and school transport services where applicable. Examination fees and enrolment (where applicable) are not included in the published tuition figures. Activity fees are charged separately and will be communicated with an official letter when applicable.

Billing schedule and payment terms

- Billing frequency: Fees for Year 11 (and Years 12–13 where applicable) are billed in two tranches (August and December). Fees for all other year groups are billed in three tranches (August, December and April).

- Payment due date and early-payment discount: Fees are payable on or before the first day of each term. A 3% discount on tuition fees is applied if full payment is made within six days of the due date.

- Late payment surcharge: A surcharge of 1.25% is levied per month on overdue accounts.

- Advance payment where vacancies are limited: In certain year groups where vacancies are limited, a 20% advance payment of tuition is payable against the first term's invoice; this advance payment is not refundable if a confirmed place is not taken up.

Family discounts

- Tuition family discounts applied to tuition bills only: 2nd child 10%; 3rd child 20%; 4th child 30%; 5th and subsequent children 40%.

Withdrawals and refunds

- Withdrawal notice: One full term's written notice to the headteacher (and written acknowledgement from the headteacher) is required for withdrawal. Failure to provide one term's notice will result in a charge of one full term's fees in lieu of notice.

- Refunds of deposit: The deposit (or balance thereof) is refundable at the end of a pupil's final term following clearance by the headteacher. The registration/application fee is explicitly non-refundable.

Boarding

- No separate boarding fees are published in the current fee schedule; boarding is not listed as a separate charge in the published fee structure. Where boarding is applicable to a particular campus or year group, separate boarding charges would be specified.

Other costs and occasional charges

- Examinations: Examination fees are not included in the published tuition figures and are payable in addition when applicable.

- Activity fees: Activity and extracurricular fees are charged separately and notified by the school when applicable.

- Uniform and personal items: Uniform and personal items (stationery beyond approved exercise books, optional trips, personal equipment) are not included in the tuition figures and are payable by parents. (Uniform costs and supplier information are provided directly by the school.)

- The Board of Directors reserves the right to alter fees with five months' notice.

Braeburn Kisumu International School (BKIS) is a day, co-educational school in Kisumu, Kenya, aligned with the National Curriculum of England and Wales and adapted for local needs today. Established in 1985 and part of the Braeburn Group since 2007, BKIS delivers a continuous programme from early years to Year 11. The Early Years follow the UK EYFS with Foundation Stage 1 and 2, while the Primary and Secondary curricula are English-medium and culminate in Cambridge IGCSEs in Years 10–11; a BTEC qualification is also offered. From age 2 to 16, students study English, Maths, Science, Languages (French and Kiswahili), and numerous optional subjects, with SATs at the ends of Years 2 and 6. The school provides facilities: stocked library, music and art rooms, science laboratory, ICT suite, field, and buses. Notable features include Model United Nations, President's Award, ABRSM music exams, inter-school sport, and a Careers and University Advisor service.
