Introduction

Braeburn Nanyuki International School is a co-educational international school in Kenya serving ages 2 to 13. It follows the British National Curriculum within the EYFS, on a campus in Nanyuki at the foot of Mt Kenya. Billing schedule and payment terms

- Billing frequency: Fees are invoiced termly; fees are payable on or before the first day of each term. A discount and surcharges are applied against the tuition element as noted below.
- Early-payment discount: A 3% discount on tuition is applied when full payment is made within six days of the due date.
- Family discounts (tuition only): 2nd child 10%; 3rd child 20%; 4th child 30%; 5th and subsequent child 40%. Family transport discount (same route) is 50% for the 2nd and each subsequent sibling.
- Late payment surcharge: A surcharge of 1.25% is levied per month on overdue fees.
- Advance payment where vacancies limited: In certain year groups with limited vacancies a 20% advance payment of tuition is payable against the first term's invoice; this advance is not refundable if a confirmed place is not taken up.
- Notice and withdrawal: A full term's written notice (with the headteacher's acknowledgement) is required for withdrawal; failure to give valid notice makes the parent liable for a full term's fees in lieu of notice. The board reserves the right to alter fees with five months' notice.

Boarding

- Boarding is not charged at this campus: Braeburn Nanyuki operates as a day primary school for ages 2–13 and no boarding fees are listed for this campus. No annual or termly boarding fee schedule is published for Braeburn Nanyuki.

Other costs and charges

Curriculum

Led by the UK National Curriculum, Braeburn Nanyuki's curriculum aims to prepare students for adult and working life in the 21st century. Core skills in English, Mathematics and Science are taught and woven into topics such as History and Geography. Kiswahili is taught from Year 1 and French is added from Year 3. A broad range of subjects is taught, including Science, Computing, History, Geography, Physical Education, Swimming, Music, Art and Design Technology, PSHE and RSHE. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school nurtures a caring and supportive environment which fully acknowledges the value and individual needs of all students and staff. It builds positive and respectful relationships between students, parents, staff and the wider community. It promotes international and cross-cultural knowledge, interest, awareness and understanding.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school welcomes children with mild learning difficulties and offers a range of additional support. There is an Inclusion Policy. There is inclusion in most mainstream classes with withdrawal from one or two subjects decided in consultation with parents, the pupil and teachers. The Inclusion Team supports planning and delivery of targeted support; an Inclusion Lead and Inclusion Teacher help coordinate resources.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school has limited provision for English as an additional language. Special oral and written tests may be used to determine a child's proficiency in English.

The school welcomes children from all backgrounds. The Primary school caters for children aged 2 to 13 years. The academic year begins in September, and students can join at any time. To reserve a place, the application form must be completed and a small non-refundable registration fee paid; an offer is made in writing depending on places available. Children who cannot be accommodated immediately are placed on a waiting list. Final admission is subject to interview with the headteacher. The school is a member of the Braeburn Group of International Schools.
