During World War II, Oshwal Community leaders in Nairobi and Mombasa formed a central body to unite Oshwals across Kenya, later known as the Oshwal Education & Relief Board (OERB). A conference held in Nairobi on Friday, 11 April 1941 brought together 21 Oshwals from 10 centres and established the OERB. The first President of the OERB was Shree Popatlal Karman Malde, with Shree Raichand Karamshi Shah as Secretary. Oshwal Academy Nairobi began with the Nursery in 1950 (Visa Oshwal Nursery School) and expanded to Oshwal Jain Primary in 1978, Oshwal Academy Nairobi – Junior High in 1963, and Oshwal Academy Nairobi – Senior High in 1959, all administered by the Oshwal Education & Relief Board.
