Potterhouse offers education from Kindergarten to High School using the British National Curriculum. The British National Curriculum is dynamic and promotes development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The environment supports academic, social, emotional and spiritual growth.
Individual Music Lessons are offered with qualified teachers in a well-equipped Music Resource Centre. Lessons can be arranged before or after school or at lunch, and may be one-on-one or in groups. The program supports ABRSM Levels 1-8 certification, with high grades earning university credit in some cases. There is a school band and music is offered as an examinable subject in Year 10 and 11.
Potterhouse attracts pupils from different nationalities and backgrounds, providing a diverse cultural environment.
Clubs take place for one hour, once a week in the afternoon: Kindergarten/Key Stage 1 12:45 PM Monday; Key Stage 2 2:30 PM Monday; Key Stage 3 2:45 PM Thursday. The choice of clubs varies by year; examples include ballet, drama, swimming, football, basketball, art, robotics, iLab, Lego, beadwork, cookery, play craft, Zumba and dance.
Dolphin is an advanced swimming training program guiding swimmers through a long-term athlete development plan (LTAD). It provides a competitive aquatic program in a challenging, fun and caring environment, promoting goal setting, team spirit and sportsmanship. Swimmers participate in monthly county galas and can qualify for national time trials, with potential to represent Kenya internationally. Dolphin runs as follows: Tuesday–Thursday 6:00 a.m.–7:30 a.m.; KS1 after-school 2:00–3:00 p.m.; KS2 4:00–5:30 p.m.; Saturday 11:00–12:00.
Potterhouse School is a Christian values-based day school in Runda, Nairobi, educating pupils aged 2 to 18. Established in 2002, it follows an adapted form of the British National Curriculum across Kindergarten to High School. The Kindergarten serves ages 2–5, followed by Key Stage One and Two, then Key Stages Three and Four (Years 7–11). Core subjects include English, Mathematics, the Sciences, Global Citizenship, History, Geography, Art, Music, French and Swahili. Year 11 takes IGCSE examinations; Year 10 begins IGCSE preparation with a minimum of five subjects, including Mathematics, English and at least one Science, with Literature also required. Progression options include A‑Levels (Years 12–13), BTEC qualifications or IB options, with guidance provided by the Mentoring, Guidance and Counselling Department. The school welcomes diverse nationalities and offers a Music Resource Centre with ABRSM preparation, a school band, LEGO Education and KUMON, and a Dolphin swimming program that broadens global opportunities.
