Academic and Intellectual

The Mombasa Academy follows the British Curriculum (Pearson Edexcel). The school is organised into Junior School, Preparatory School and Senior School, with progression designed to develop understanding across core subjects. English is the language of instruction at all levels. The curriculum emphasizes innovative teaching techniques and assessment practices aligned with international standards.

Arts and Creative

Extra-curricular arts opportunities are available, including music and concerts. The Music Department runs extra-curricular activities and supports a band and choir, with additional lessons for Recorder, Guitar and Keyboard. The academy presents several concerts each year, inviting students of all ages to participate. These activities are part of the school's broad arts programme.

Cultural and Language

The Mombasa Academy cultural day celebrates unity in diversity through music, dance, art and storytelling. French is introduced in Class 1 and taught by a French-speaking teacher; reading and writing in French begin in Class 4.

Social and Hobbies

Inter-House Activities involve Mars, Jupiter and Mercury houses and include calendar-based events for the 2025/2026 year. These activities foster teamwork, healthy competition and social interaction among pupils across age groups. House systems cultivate a sense of belonging and motivate positive participation.

Community and Service

Community Action Projects are part of the school's ethos. On 14 November 2025, students participated in a Citizenship Community Action Project focused on cleaning Nyali Beach. The project involved environmental conservation, teamwork, and active citizenship, reinforcing values beyond academics.

Leadership and Professional

Pastoral Care outlines a prefectural system, where pupils take responsibility for discipline. Every pupil belongs to a house (Mars, Jupiter or Mercury) and House Points are tallied weekly, with house competitions fostering leadership and organisational skills. The framework provides ongoing opportunities for students to demonstrate leadership, collaboration and service within the school community.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Pastoral Care emphasises a friendly, caring atmosphere to help pupils develop their talents. The weekly House Points and house competitions support social wellbeing and motivation. The school emphasizes continuity of contact between teachers and pupils and offers a Parents Teachers Association to promote welfare.
