English is a core subject from Kindergarten onward and the English department focuses on reading, writing and literature as part of the IGCSE programme. French is taught to all pupils up to Year 11, with four French lessons per week in the Senior School; in Years 7-9 pupils gain a working knowledge of basic sentence structures and grammar. In the Sixth Form, French can be studied at A level.
The school teaches English and French. English is taught by class teachers in Kindergarten to Year 3 and as a specialist subject from Year 4 onwards, with English Language and English Literature taught separately in Years 10 and 11 and the English course based on the objectives of the IGCSE level papers. In the Preparatory School, pupils start French in Year 1. French is taught to all pupils up to Year 11; in the Senior School, French is taught with four lessons per week, and it can be studied at A level in the Sixth Form.
The Mombasa Academy is a private day school in Nyali for boys and girls from early years through to the end of secondary education. It follows the British Curriculum with Pearson Edexcel IGCSE, offering progression to O-levels in Years 9–11 and A-levels in the Sixth Form. The school is organised into three divisions—Junior School, Preparatory School and Senior School—housed on a single campus with shared facilities and staff. English is the language of instruction throughout, while French begins in Class 1 and is developed through to reading and writing in Class 4. General Science culminates in the Edexcel Primary Curriculum Science Examination in Year 6. Pearson Accreditation logos are displayed, and a pupil has been recognised as Top in the World in Mathematics.
