Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Counseling supports positive academic and personal development. School counselors guide students through difficult or stressful periods and may provide individual or group sessions. Counselors observe students in classrooms, recess, and PE to understand patterns and performance. When a student is referred, the counselor gathers information in consultation with teachers, parents, learning support staff, and administrators, and an appropriate intervention plan is developed and implemented. Counseling sessions are confidential unless there is a risk of harming self or others, and the counseling space is a safe place for sharing thoughts, feelings, and challenges.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The Learning Diversity Policy commits to a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment and recognizes the strengths of all students. It supports inclusive education by including students with mild learning diversities within the general classroom through the Student Learning Diversity Group (SLDG). Inclusion decisions are made carefully and collaboratively, considering the student's academic, social, and emotional potential, parental expectations, and the school's resources. The goal is an inclusive learning environment that promotes student success while maintaining the integrity of the academic program. The Intervention Program provides after‑school support with trained teachers and specialist staff to bridge gaps in knowledge and skills.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

English is the primary language of instruction. All teachers are skilled language educators who develop students' written and oral communication across subjects. English language development is emphasized to enable use across diverse contexts, while Mother Tongue Support promotes proficiency in students' native languages and literacy development in the mother tongue.

Mental Wellbeing

Wellbeing is prioritized, with ongoing input from staff and students to sustain a positive climate and health initiatives that promote physical and mental wellbeing. Counseling supports mental wellbeing through individualized or group sessions, confidentiality, and a safe space for students to share thoughts and feelings; counselors collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff to address needs. The School Nurse Services also support student health to ensure health needs do not impede educational potential and vaccinations are kept up to date.
