Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The Lycée Français de Koweït is a private educational establishment founded in 1989 by Mme Mona Al Khaled, the first Kuwaiti woman to obtain a French university degree (maîtrise de lettres from the University of Caen). The administrative management of the establishment is carried out by the Al Fusool company. The school's status evolved with the AEFE partnership signed on March 29, 2010, which took effect on September 1, 2010, replacing a prior agreement signed in April 2002. The partnership guarantees adherence to the principles of French education, including curricula, examinations, and teacher recruitment. Governance rests on a balanced relationship among the various actors and owners-managers; in line with homologation criteria, the head of the school is a proviseur appointed by the French National Education system. The Lycée Français de Koweït is a multicultural French school that gathers a large number of nationalities. It is accredited by the French Ministry of National Education and is a partner of AEFE. Its objectives include multilingual, multicultural, and multidisciplinary education, culminating in the Baccalauréat as the end-of-secondary-diploma and first degree, which opens doors to universities worldwide, with a pedagogy focused on high-level studies within a cooperative community.

Community

Throughout the year the school is shaped by numerous events and activities that enrich students' journeys, including artistic exhibitions, theatre, dance, music, and performances, often in partnership with the Institut Français in Kuwait. The school hosts sports tournaments, engages in AEFE programs such as Ambassadeurs/Ambassadrices en herbe, Francophonie Week (Dis-moi dix mots; the Dictation for Francophonie), Mathematics and Science Olympiads, and Model United Nations, and participates in AEFE network activities like the Palmes. It promotes competitions that celebrate eloquence and academic excellence, and runs cultural-literacy events such as Chut, je lis... and Language Week. The school also leads solidarity and citizenship actions, observing Children's Rights Day, and pursues AEFE3D labeling with sustainability initiatives spanning from early years to lycée. End-of-year celebrations and graduation ceremonies for the Terminale class are part of the community life.

Parent-Teacher Association

Parent representatives at the Lycée Français de Koweït play an essential role in school life. On the Conseil d'Établissement, parent representatives participate in decisions about the internal regulations, the school project, and educational and cultural actions. The elected representatives on the Conseil d'Établissement are Nadège Koleilat, Marie Aldekhail, Frida Wehbé, Marie-Pierre Beliveau, and Pamela El Azzi. On the Conseil d'École, parent representatives organize and monitor the pedagogical and educational activities of the primary level. Elected members on the Conseil d'École are AMMACH Pamela, EL KAZZI Nada, EL BATROUNI Chantal, BELIVEAU Marie-Pierre, MAMO Stéphanie, RADWAN Shahenda, and KELLY Chaineze.

LFK is a private, multicultural French school in Kuwait, homologated by the French Ministry of Education and AEFE-partner. The curriculum follows the French national program with a bilingual dimension culminating in the Baccalauréat Français International (BFI). From maternelle to Terminale, language learning is integrated, with PARLE and EMILE supporting early language development; PARLE continues in collège, and lycée students may pursue the BFI and, from 2025, the English-language European Section. The school also offers language certifications—IELTS, DELE, DELF, and CIMA—to formalize proficiency. A trilingual pathway, the Section Internationale Américaine (SIA), leads to the BFI American track, with some English-language instruction in 2nde. The Section Européenne anglaise is planned to begin in fall 2025. Official pathways include Parcours Avenir, Parcours d'éducation artistique et culturelle, Parcours éducatif de santé, and Parcours citoyen. The campus serves maternelle through terminale and supports extensive after-school activities and eco-responsibility initiatives. The school welcomes families worldwide today.
