English is the language of instruction. English, Russian, and Latvian are offered as independent language courses, allowing students to develop proficiency in these languages. Units of Inquiry and most subjects are taught in English, and EAL (English as an Additional Language) support is provided with six extra classes per week. Latvian is a host-country language with an integrated Latvian Studies Course; the school supports mother-tongue languages (including Russian as a native language) with additional tutoring available on request.
All teachers are bilingual and actively support students in developing their language skills.
International School Premjers is a private day school delivering the IB continuum for ages 3 to 18, including the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP). The school laid the foundation for what would become an outstanding educational institution. Instruction is in English, with a policy that includes Latvian and Russian and allows study of an additional language (Spanish or French or German). The school welcomes multiple languages and focuses on English, Spanish and German. Class sizes are small, typically 8–14 pupils, supporting individualized attention, and students have access to psychological and career counselling. In secondary, there is a vocal studio and arts and creative clubs. Senior students may attend ISMA Preparatory Faculty free of charge and can take ISMA courses for professional certificates in environmental design, events management, hospitality, and IT. A democratic student parliament leads and career education supports personal development.
