King's Group was founded in 1969 by Sir Roger Fry. King's College Latvia opened in 2017 as part of the King's College Schools Group, initially welcoming pupils from Nursery to Year 5. The school joined the Inspired Education Group in 2019. Cambridge International IGCSE accreditation was awarded in 2021 and the school became an IB World School in 2022. In 2024, King's College Latvia became an all-through school, educating children from Pre-Nursery to Sixth Form.
King's College Latvia builds a strong community through a house system, with students assigned to one of four Houses; older pupils support younger ones and house events promote friendly competition. Outdoor learning is embedded in the curriculum for the primary years, and travel experiences are provided for older students. The school's CSR programme engages students as active supporters of local and international charities through a student leadership team that plans and implements charitable initiatives.
Parents are an important part of College life. The College describes an open-door policy for parents, with regular opportunities to discuss a child's academic and social progress and invitations to a range of social events. These events include concerts, plays, sports days, coffee mornings and fetes; parents can meet one another and talk with teachers. When a child starts at King's, the whole family joins the King's College community. The school supports charity fundraising across its network, with thousands of Euros raised annually and alumni contributing to charitable work. Events and trips are important; parents are active participants in sporting events, concerts, stage productions, fundraising events, prize-giving ceremonies, coffee mornings, open days and staff meetings.
