IB language programmes develop confident readers, writers, viewers, presenters, critics, speakers, and listeners. Language learning is approached through inquiry and contextual learning across real-life situations, with teachers acting as language teachers. The program emphasizes mother-tongue maintenance and cultural identity, while providing language experiences rooted in the local community.
HIS offers student clubs through the Activities Office to develop personal, social, and intellectual abilities. PYP Clubs and MYP Clubs are organized for different grade levels. HIS clubs are also available to students from outside HIS. Life Rhythms and other student-life activities provide additional outlets for social engagement and creative exploration.

Active committees include the Activities Committee, Social Committee, Spatial Aesthetic Committee, Learning Resources Committee, Media Committee, Physical, Social, and Psychological Safety Committee, IT Committee, and the Parents' Council. A spirit of collaboration extends to community service opportunities within HIS and involvement from family members. The motto “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much” reflects this emphasis.
The Student Council builds student leadership skills and encourages active involvement in school events, decision making, and community dynamics. Members are elected from grade 2 onwards, with roles such as Head of Council, Secretary, and Treasurer. The Activities Office and HIS Clubs also foster leadership and teamwork skills across the student body.
The Counseling Office implements a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program across all grades to promote psychological health, resilience, and wellbeing.
