LWIS-CiS is learner-centered in philosophy of education and multinational in curriculum, staff, and learners. The admissions process includes a vice-principal interview with parents and learners to discuss academic, social, and behavioral backgrounds and to present the school; learners must be age-appropriate for their grade; parents complete a pre-registration form; nursery learners are interviewed by nursery teachers; a placement test is administered in math, English (comprehension and writing), and Arabic; for Grade 12 Lebanese-system applicants, tests in other subjects may be required; test results are reviewed by the academic office, which forwards tests and comments to the registrar; a psycho-educational assessment may be requested for learners with learning difficulties; conditional admission may be offered for learners with learning difficulties; the admission decision is made based on the interview, placement test, references and prior grades; the decision and any conditions are communicated within one week of the entrance exams; a full application is required; a brochure detailing the school's philosophy, academic program, fee structure, and calendar is provided.
The school has awarded scholarships to students, including Lynn El Mir receiving a full scholarship to AUB and Mario Fares receiving a scholarship to Harvard University. LWIS-CiS City International School is a private international day school in Beirut offering English-medium instruction and a blended curriculum that includes the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, an American High School Program, and a bespoke approach for multilingual learners.
