Admissions

Admissions

1. Registration and place reservation for an academic year starts in the first week of February. All applicants seeking admission to MIS are required to submit documents according to their program. MIS offers three admission tracks: the Lebanese official program leading to the Lebanese Baccalaureate, the High School Diploma Program, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. The admissions process begins with collecting the required materials and completing the program-specific requirements.

2. The Lebanese official program leading to the Lebanese Baccalaureate: Submit an official transcript of the past two years indicating subjects studied and grades received; provide a recommendation including the last class completed certified by the Lebanese Ministry of Education; and take an entrance exam at MIS. Students coming from abroad must also submit the Lebanese equivalency of the last class completed from the Equivalence Committee of the Lebanese Ministry of Education. This track prepares students for the Lebanese Baccalaureate.

3. The High School Diploma Program: Applicants must obtain prior to the time set for registration by MIS a permission from the Equivalence Committee allowing them to pursue a High School Program exempted from Arabic. Lebanese students must provide evidence of having lived and studied outside Lebanon for not less than two uninterrupted years, along with their passport, the father's/guardian's work permit, proof of legal residence, and the official grades of two years plus a recommendation of the last class completed. If the years of study are at the elementary level, three uninterrupted years plus a recommendation are required. Applicants holding foreign passports must submit official grades of two years, a recommendation, and proof of legal residence from the Lebanese General Security; all submitted documents should be certified by the Lebanese Embassy in the foreign country and by the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

4. The International Baccalaureate (Diploma Program): MIS welcomes students of all nationalities who can apply during the first week of February. Admission decisions are based on the applicant's interest to benefit from the program and its academic opportunities offered. i) Admission requirements to DP 1 include: completion of 10 years of schooling; passing admission tests in English and Mathematics; willingness to commit to the DP subjects; completing an interview with MIS head of school, DP coordinator, or a DP teacher; and the role of maturity, motivation, and recommendations in the assessment. ii) Admission requirements to DP 2 include: having completed DP 1 successfully from an IB World School; and passing a qualifying exam prepared at MIS. DP placement decisions consider more than grades; maturity and motivation with recommendations are evaluated in interviews.

5. Languages: Lebanese nationality requires Arabic as Language A and other languages can be taken as additional Language A or Language B depending on MIS offerings.

Scholarships

The Scholarship Committee is responsible for the administration of all forms of financial assistance for students. Those interested in getting financial aid should fill in an application form and submit it to the office before Aug. 31st of the academic year for which aid is sought.
