Founded in 2007, the original Beirut campus is located near the National Museum, with a secondary campus in Ain El Roumaneh. It is privately owned and operates under a governing board of international and local members, with advisory members and a head of school. It is a co-educational, non-selective, non-religious day school where English is the language of instruction. Wellspring was the first International Baccalaureate Continuum World School in Lebanon authorized to offer three IB Programmes (PYP, MYP and DP) alongside Lebanese tracks for seniors. The school graduated its first senior class in 2016 and has maintained a 100% Brevet pass rate since 2014, and in 2024 earned CIS/NEASC/IB reaccreditation.
Wellspring's community emphasizes diverse extra-curricular programs, including local and international Model United Nations, student council, drama productions, participation in international theater festivals, sports, technology and music offerings. Wellspring hosts Wellspring's Week Without Walls as part of its program. The student body includes local Lebanese and international students from 49 nationalities and several religions. PYP Exhibition and Mother Tongue Day are part of the school's community life.
The Wellspring Parent Advisory Committee (WPAC) supports the school's mission, programmes and activities and acts in the best interest of the entire community. WPAC provides a forum for the exchange of ideas between parents and the school. It supports the learning of all students in line with the adopted curriculum and facilitates the development of educational activities for parents. WPAC offers social support mechanisms for parents and promotes a positive image of the school to the wider community. It organizes and promotes fundraising projects beneficial to Wellspring and conducts WPAC committee elections (for example, a 15-member election was held).
