Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

ELC International School began as ELC Secondary School in 1987, founded to provide private education for a small group of children. It initially comprised just five students and six teachers. The school expanded to include a Primary Division in 1992 and later consolidated its operations at the Sungai Buloh campus in January 1997.

Community

The school fosters a vibrant and inclusive community that emphasizes cultural appreciation and global awareness. Events such as "Cultural Week" celebrate diverse cultures through class learning and activities like costume parades and food sharing.

Parent-Teacher Association

ELC International School has an active Parent's Association (PA), formerly known as the Parent Teacher Association, which plays a vital role in enhancing the school community. This association regularly organizes a variety of events aimed at fostering social interaction between parents and students. Past activities have included a "Family Fun Day," offering opportunities for parents and students to engage in social events like ten-pin bowling. The PA also holds Annual General Meetings (AGMs) where new members are welcomed to join the committee, contributing to a collaborative school environment.

ELC International School's Sungai Buloh campus offers a British-style education for students aged 3 to 16. The curriculum is based on the National Curriculum for England, leading to the Cambridge IGCSE examinations. The campus is situated on a 6-acre site with facilities that include a 2-acre sports field, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, a half Olympic-sized swimming pool, and a dedicated music and performing arts studio. A notable aspect of the school's program is its participation in the Duke of Edinburgh International Award, which challenges students in the areas of community service, physical recreation, skills development, and adventurous journey. The school also offers the Junior Award Scheme for Schools (eJASS) for primary students.
