Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school emphasizes the social and emotional well-being of its students, ensuring all staff are trained in awareness of social, emotional, and mental health needs through The Key Safeguarding centre. The campus features multiple spaces designed for student well-being, such as reading nooks, a library, a Sensory room, and gardens, providing areas to relax and process emotions.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school supports students identified with learning barriers or exceptionalities, including diagnoses in Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Dyspraxia. While the school is not a specialist SEN institution, it provides in-class support through specific differentiation and offers focused support via Personal Support Teachers (PLS) who work with classroom teachers.

Personal Development Plans (PDPs) are developed jointly by teachers, the Head of Inclusion, PLS, specialist teachers, and parents to ensure students can access the curriculum effectively.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school provides support for students with English as an Additional Language requirements. Upon admission, non-native English speakers undergo an English Placement Test to determine their proficiency level. The school offers various EAL programs, including regular and intensive classes, tailored to individual student needs, with a focus on developing all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Support is delivered through a combination of in-class assistance from homeroom teachers and specialized pull-out sessions with dedicated EAL teachers, aiming for seamless integration into the mainstream curriculum.

Mental Wellbeing

The mental wellbeing of students is a core priority at EtonHouse. The school emphasizes a strong pastoral care program designed to nurture the physical and emotional welfare of each child, fostering trusting relationships within the school community. Staff are trained to address students' social, emotional, and mental health needs, creating a supportive environment. The campus features multiple dedicated spaces, such as reading nooks, a library, a sensory room, and gardens, providing calming areas for students to relax and process their emotions.

Safeguarding

EtonHouse is committed to safeguarding and child protection, which involves promoting the welfare of children and protecting them from harm. Child protection is a key part of this process, focusing on individuals identified as at risk. The school utilizes The Key Safeguarding centre to ensure all staff are trained in the awareness of social, emotional, and mental health needs within the school community. While specific detailed policies for the Malaysia campus are not publicly outlined, the EtonHouse International Education Group emphasizes comprehensive safeguarding practices across its schools, ensuring a safe and secure environment for students. Parents have also noted that the school's security measures contribute to their peace of mind.

It integrates subjects including English, Mandarin, Mathematics (using the White Rose framework), Science, and Arts. Notable facilities include traditional colonial buildings with gardens, a multi-sports court, a grass football pitch, and specialized learning spaces such as a dedicated Sensory Room and a Chef's Kitchen.
