Fairview International School Ipoh was opened in 2017 as part of the Fairview Education Group, a Malaysia-based network of IB schools that began in 1978 in Kuala Lumpur. The Ipoh campus was developed to extend Fairview’s IB offerings into northern Malaysia and is part of a network with campuses in Penang, Johor Bahru, Subang, Kuala Lumpur, and Edinburgh, Scotland. In 2019, the Ipoh branch achieved official authorization as an IB World School, delivering the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP). While relatively young, the school benefits from the decades of academic and curriculum expertise of the larger Fairview system.
he school comprises a small, inclusive community of about 600 students from over 55 nationalities. It emphasises collaboration through school-wide clubs, parent engagement in classroom exhibitions like “Celebrations of Learning”, and community service activities tied to the IB ethos.
The school does not have an official PTA.
Fairview is the only IB World School in Perak that offers the International Baccalaureate Primary Years (PYP) and Middle Years (MYP) Programmes. Located in Medan Lapangan Suria, just outside central Ipoh, the school provides an IB education for students aged 3 to 17, with boarding tailored to support the learning journey. The campus is built for 21st-century learning, featuring modern classrooms, IT resource centre, library, science labs, sports halls, swimming pool, basketball courts, performing arts venues, and boarding facilities designed to enhance students’ physical, social, and emotional well-being
