Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The Global Indian International School (GIIS) network was established in 2002 with its first campus in Singapore. Its founding aimed to provide high-quality education for the Indian expatriate community and beyond. The Kuala Lumpur campus in Malaysia opened in June 2006, marking an expansion of the GIIS presence in Asia. The school is part of the Global Schools Foundation (GSF), which has grown significantly to encompass campuses across multiple countries, fulfilling its mission to provide a stimulating learning environment globally.

Community

The school fosters a vibrant community through various events and activities. The school calendar includes annual events like Independence Day celebrations and Sports Day, which encourage student bonding and allow them to showcase their talents in sports and co-curricular activities.

Parent-Teacher Association

GIIS KL actively promotes parent engagement through several established forums and initiatives. The school maintains an "open-door policy" for communication between parents and teachers, which is further supported by weekly class updates, orientation sessions, and regular Parent Teacher Meetings and one-on-one appointments.

GIIS has also established "Parent Ambassadors" and "Friends of GIIS." These groups serve as forums for parents to collaborate with the school and share positive experiences within the wider community. The myGIIS portal also acts as a digital bridge for announcements, queries, and administrative tasks, ensuring seamless communication.
