Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

International Islamic School Malaysia (IISM) was established in 1998 as part of an initiative by the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) community to provide an integrated model of Islamic and international education. The school operates under IIUM Schools Sdn. Bhd., which was formed in 1997 to manage its educational institutions. IISM became a recognised Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) examination centre in 2000, enabling students to sit for Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level qualifications on site. Over the years, the school has expanded its offerings while maintaining strong links with IIUM and its educational subsidiaries.

Community

The IISM community is made up of students, parents, and staff from diverse cultural backgrounds. The school regularly hosts International Day, Sports Week, and Ibadah Camp, which bring students together in cultural exchange, physical activities, and Islamic learning experiences. These events foster school spirit and encourage student participation in co-curricular and service-oriented activities.

Parent-Teacher Association

The school maintains an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) that supports student learning and community building. While the website does not publish a dedicated PTA page, parent involvement is visible in events such as International Day and various school-wide programmes. The PTA also plays a role in supporting cultural and religious activities, alongside providing volunteer support at community and school functions. Through these contributions, the PTA helps strengthen collaboration between parents and teachers, ensuring students benefit from both academic and extracurricular opportunities.
