Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The International Modern Arabic School (IMAS) was founded in 2007 by the Alnoor Foundation as a non-profit international school. It opened with around 220 students and has since expanded to educate more than 2,600 students from over 45 nationalities. The school was established to integrate British education with Arabic and Islamic studies, creating a bilingual model. Over time, IMAS has grown into one of the larger international schools in Malaysia, with campuses in Putrajaya and UNITEN, supported by recognition such as becoming a Google for Education Reference School.

Community

The IMAS community reflects its multinational student body, with learners from dozens of cultural backgrounds. The school provides brochures that emphasize the role of co-curricular activities (CCAs) such as performing arts, sports, and public speaking, which contribute to a vibrant student life. Cultural traditions are also embedded in school events; for example, Primary and Secondary students are shown participating in multicultural dress and performances, reinforcing intercultural exchange.

Parent-Teacher Association

The school does not publicly disclose information on a formal Parent Teacher Association (PTA). There are no available references to organized PTA groups, events, or parent-led committees. Parent involvement is mentioned more generally through activities such as parent meetings and opportunities to engage with children’s learning, but there are no details of a structured PTA body or specific PTA-led initiatives.

Established in 2007, the IMAS Putrajaya campus in Precinct 14 offers a bilingual Arabic-British education for students aged 3 to 18 years. The school combines the British (Cambridge IGCSE) curriculum with Arabic and Islamic education, delivered primarily in English alongside subjects including Arabic and Bahasa Malaysia. Classes average 25–30 students, fostering interactive and supportive learning environments. The campus houses around 1,600 students of diverse nationalities and provides co-educational learning in Primary, with separated classes in Secondary. Physical proximity to government and civic centers in Putrajaya offers ease of access and a calm learning locale. IMAS emphasizes academic enrichment, STEM disciplines, and a culture of service, reflected in its motto: “Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve.” From Grade 3, students engage in structured co-curricular activities, balancing curriculum and broader personal development.
